Job Description: Admissions/Registration Clerk
Location: Blue Mountain Hospital
Reports To: Business Office Manager

Job Description:
The Patient Admissions/Registration Clerk assumes responsibility for a comprehensive range of financial, registration, and administrative support tasks linked to patient admission and associated activities. This involves accurately gathering, recording, and disseminating patient demographic and financial data through computer systems. The role includes verifying and securing authorizations and referrals for outpatient services, as well as facilitating payment arrangements with patients for outpatient hospital and medical services, which may involve accepting cash payments and providing financial counseling.
The job necessitates familiarity with insurance procedures, privacy regulations, medical terminology, and the patient registration process.
Key duties involve reviewing admissions for insurance details, obtaining necessary precertification's, and ensuring accurate registration. Constructive feedback on registration errors is provided to the Business Manager.
Responsibilities:
Receive, verify, record, update, and distribute patient demographic, physician, and financial information adhering to standards and guidelines.
Coordinate and confirm insurance benefits and eligibility for patient accounts, obtaining necessary authorizations and referrals to ensure prompt payment.
Manage Contract Health Accounts duties as directed by the Business Office Supervisor.
Respond to verbal and written requests following HIPAA guidelines and departmental procedures, addressing concerns and referring customers to appropriate resources.
Explain consent forms, obtain patient signatures, and secure current physician orders as per state and federal regulations.
Provide administrative support such as patient interaction, telephone services, and scheduling hospital services.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Experience:
Two years of progressive experience in patient registration, insurance verification, financial counseling, or related roles, or a combination of education and experience demonstrating capability to perform the job duties.
