Small Business Loan Officer III

(Position Summary) The Small Business Loan Officer III position is responsible for developing and managing a small business loan portfolio. The Small Business Loan Officer III is responsible for assigned market loan production goals and objectives, and assist as needed to loan portfolio performance matters. Confidentiality is involved, and sensitive situations may be handled. The Small Business Loan Officer III may be located in various locations of HOPE.
Responsibilities
- Develop active referral network for identifying potential customers and co-lending partners in the assigned market.
- Work with prospects and internal staff to adequately assess risk of credit requests, present recommendations, and facilitate loan closings.
- Manage customer relationships, including facilitating required outside technical assistance (e.g., accounting, management, marketing, engineering, etc.), compliance with loan covenants, payment performance, annual financial reviews, and on-site collateral and business inspections.
- Manage assigned loan portfolio.
- Evaluating creditworthiness by processing loan applications and documentation within specified limits.
- Interviewing applicants to determine financial eligibility and feasibility of getting a loan.
- Ensure all assigned loans are in compliance and properly documented.
- Market HEC/HFCU’s other financial products and services.
- Refer loan to loan committee for approval
Secondary Functions
- Perform general administrative duties such as attending meetings, report production, etc.
- Assist Special Assets Department as needed in addressing problem loans.
- Provide information required for investor reporting, as requested by the Investor Relations Department.
- Participate in community outreach efforts.
- Manage other assigned credits.

- Must comply with provisions of the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA)
- Must comply with all provisions of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (Regulation B)
- Must comply with all provisions of the Fair Credit Practice Rule
- Must comply with all provisions of the Flood Disaster Protection Act
- Must comply with all provisions of the National Flood Insurance Act
- Must comply with all provisions of the Truth in Lending Act (Regulation Z)
Accountability for Business Results
- Small Business loan production volume
- Small Business loan quality (compliance, payment performance, charge-offs, etc.)
Specified Authority Level
- Access to loan applications and loan performance data
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field preferred
- Prefer experience in development, finance, and/or commercial banking
- Prefer Prior Formal credit training
Required:
- Proven track record with an existing portfolio of clients and established lending relationships
- Experience in loan origination, credit analysis, and portfolio management
- 6-8 years of small business/commercial lending experience required
