Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides planned, skilled, and individualized nursing care for patients in the preoperative and postoperative/post-anesthesia (Phase 1 & 2) periods of the perioperative process.
- Provides thorough patient assessment, patient surveillance, and timely administrations of physician’s orders preparing the patient for and recovering the patient after surgery in an outpatient setting.
- Communicates effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers.
- Supports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the Organization.
- Maintains familiarity with and abides by the Center’s policies and procedures.
- Contributes to the progress and development of the Organization’s adopted Quality Management Program.
- Maintains professional competence by participating in continuing education and other learning experiences.
- Maintains membership(s) and activity within relevant professional organization(s).
- Must be able to set priorities and provide direction to others that is clear, concise, and promotes efficiency.
- Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.
- Respects the patient’s right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality and will provide a safe and supportive patient atmosphere.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education, Experience, Licenses, and Certifications
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Michigan: Required
- Minimum of 2 years perioperative orthopaedic surgery experience: Required
- Joint Replacement and Spine Surgery experience: Preferred
- Critical Care experience: Preferred
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certification Required (able to obtain within 6 months of hire).
