As we experience continued growth and brand expansion, we are seeking a Director of Category Management to join our team.
This role leads the development of category growth strategies by leveraging consumer insights, market trends, and retailer data to influence and develop merchandising, assortment, and promotional recommendations that drive retailer category growth. The Director of Category Management partners closely with retail sales teams to deliver actionable assortment, promotional, and innovation strategies to strategic retail partners. Acting as a trusted advisor, this role influences retailer decision-making to optimize category performance. Success requires strong collaboration with sales, strategy & planning, finance, and marketing teams to ensure alignment and execution of category growth initiatives across retail channels.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Lead the development and execution of data-driven, consumer-first category growth strategies across key retail partners.
· Partner with sales to influence merchandising, assortment, and promotional plans that elevate the shopping experience and drive
category performance.
· Serve as a strategic advisor to retailers, shaping long-term category vision and in-aisle solutions rooted in shopper behavior.
· Align cross-functional teams (sales, planning, finance, marketing) to activate scalable, customer-focused initiatives.
· Identify whitespace opportunities and guide innovation and assortment planning to unlock future growth.
· Influence senior stakeholders internally and externally to champion total-category strategies that create value for both the
shopper and the retailer.
· Develop toolkits, frameworks, and selling stories that enable field teams to deliver retail excellence at scale.
Requirements
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
· Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into actionable merchandising and assortment strategies
· Excellent collaboration and influencing skills across internal teams and retail partners
· Deep understanding of consumer behavior, category management, and retail dynamics; experience in NIQ, Circana, Scintilla,
Spate, WGSM, Kantar preferred
· Strategic thinker focused on driving category growth through partnership and insight
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree required
· 8+ years of experience in category management, retail strategy, or related roles within CPG or retail
· Proven ability to partner cross-functionally and influence key stakeholders without direct authority
