Patient Care Assistant - Emergency Department

Florence, Alabama is situated in Northwestern Alabama, where the Tennessee River Flows through the scenic Shoals. On your days off spend some time fishing and boating on Wilson Lake. Department/Unit Summary 

At North Alabama Medical Center our emergency room (ER) team is staffed 24/7 with emergency physicians, nurses and staff who are trained in providing emergency care. Our team combines advanced training with compassionate service to be ready for you or your family when you need it the most.

How you’ll contribute  

You’ll make an impact by utilizing your specialized plan-of-care intervention and serving as a patient-care innovator. You will shape exceptional patient journeys every day and leverage your skills and our cutting-edge technology to directly impact patient wellbeing.  

Qualifications and requirements 
Applicants should have a Nursing Assistant Certificate (Preferred). Additional requirements include: 

  • Basic Life Support certification within 30-days of hire 
  • Previous relevant experience or completion of base skills as a registered nursing student
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

What you will do

  • Provides direct patient care
  • Performs specific documentation in the patient's record
  • Maintains equipment and supplies and participates in quality assurance
  • Communicates appropriate information intradepartmentally and interdepartmentally
  • Assists and participates in staff education and pursues continuing education for personal development.
  • Applies knowledge of age-related factors appropriately to patients, utilizing appropriate policies and procedures
