Job Overview
The Surgical Technologist assists the surgeon during operative and invasive procedures, assists in preparation of surgical services to ensure suite setup is appropriate.
**Upgraded Pay Range** The pay range for this position is $29.79-$44.69/hourly. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.
Responsibilities
- Competency to create and maintain a sterile field, providing equipment and supplies, performing sponge, sharps and instruments counts.
- Providing visualization of operative site.
- Independently pulls cases utilizing preference sheets and OR special equipment lists.
- Updates, reviews lists making changes as necessary. Reviews cases, and equipment prior to start of case.
- Is scrubbed in and has equipment prior to patient arriving into the OR suite
- Verifying efficacy of equipment, operating, maintaining, verifying, and recording efficacy of equipment
- Determines and documents efficacy of equipment. Records reflect accurate description of operations, sterilization, and use of equipment
- Familiar with proper assembly, operation, and disassembly of all OR equipment and attends in-service on new equipment
- Attends in-service on new equipment, completes competency evaluation successful in operation and maintaining equipment used within the department

Qualifications
Required:
- Associate in Surgical Technology or graduate program
- Surgical Technologist certification (CST)
- Basic Life Support by start date (BLS, through American Heart Association only)
- 1 year experience with scrub and circulation skills
