PROBATE SPECIALIST
The Organization
North Los Angeles County Regional Center “NLACRC” is a private, non-profit agency that is contracted with the State of California, Department of Developmental Services, to provide services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. NLACRC is one of the largest regional centers in California and has proudly served the San Fernando Valley, Santa Clarita Valley, and Antelope Valley since 1974. We serve individuals across the lifespan from infants and toddlers, school age children, transition-age youth, to adults and aging adults.
Supervision
Receives general supervision from the CPP Supervisor. A Consumer Services Supervisor (CSS) will oversee and train on the probate process (as of FY25-26, the supervisor designee will be the CSS – Adult Unit 3).
The Position and Job Summary
Position will receive email notifications from California Superior Court – Probate Division (“Probate Court”) regarding conservatorship reports for associated NLACRC individuals served and will coordinate with service coordinators (“CSCs”) to ensure that conservatorship reports are submitted 5 days prior to a hearing date. This position may also field inquiries from service coordinators regarding the conservatorship report process. This position will maintain a tracking system to ensure that reports are submitted on time. The Probate Specialist will perform e-mail reminders of hearing dates and when reports are due, reviewing probate reports and sending them back for corrections, filing the report via electronic filing system, completing Probate Court-related addenda and POS (specific to the conservatorship report submission) when the report is confirmed from the court.
Other Essential Duties (in addition to those listed above):
- Look-up case information, find Judicial Officer name.
- Maintain a tracking system of reports and due dates.
- Send e-mails to CSCs and CSSs regarding hearing date(s) and court information.
- Reviews all submitted drafts of conservatorship reports from CSCs and provides feedback for corrections/clarifications to ensure report accuracy and court standards for report format and content.
- File reports via E-Legal
- Completes Probate-specific IPP Addendum and POS associated with the conservatorship report once the court confirms report.
- Travels to Probate Superior Court (typically the Norwalk, CA location) to file conservatorship reports due for submission.
- May be requested to appear at a court hearing (for Orders to Show Cause appearances) to represent NLACRC.
- Performs other related duties as required by supervisor and/or management.

Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required. Three (3) years’ experience working in an office environment or related experience. Prior Regional Center experience and familiarity with the Probate Court conservatorship process is strongly preferred.
Skills and Abilities
Knowledge: Developmental or related disabilities, social service provision.
Skills: Customer service, leadership, advocacy, and relationship-building experience, and a strong understanding of regional center services and community resources. Must successfully work and interact interpersonally with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds. Strong organizational skills to maintain tracking deadlines, et al. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of submitted reports.
Essential Requirements
- Attendance at frequent telephonic, video, and out-of-office meetings required.
- Valid CDL and reliable transportation, or acceptable substitute, required.

Compensation
This is a non-exempt position, salary range $29.49/hour -- $41.66/hour.
Base Pay Rate / Salary Range Information
The actual amount offered within the posted salary/pay rate range will depend on a variety of factors, including degree obtained/education, experience, skills and abilities, and other relevant job-related factors. The lower end of salary range applies to candidates who meet minimum qualifications or have limited years of relevant experience; the higher end of range will apply to seasoned candidates with considerable years of direct relevant experience.
