Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician II is a mid-level position responsible for independently  performing skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to ensure equipment and facility reliability. This role involves working independently or as part of a team on more complex maintenance projects, preventive maintenance schedules, and emergency repairs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on machinery, equipment, and building systems.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to complete repairs.
  • Install, calibrate, and maintain mechanical and electrical components.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies promptly to resolve issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, including parts used, repair details, and equipment status.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Train and mentor junior maintenance staff (e.g., Maintenance Tech 1) as needed.
  • Assist in sourcing and maintaining an inventory of parts, tools, and equipment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency.

Qualifications


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in maintenance, repair, or a related field required.
  • At least 18  years of age.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and identify root causes of issues.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
  • Capability to work in various environments, including outdoor, noisy, or confined spaces.
  • Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and working in awkward positions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in maintenance-related fields such as HVAC, electrical work, and plumbing.
  • Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
