Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician II is a mid-level position responsible for independently performing skilled maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair tasks to ensure equipment and facility reliability. This role involves working independently or as part of a team on more complex maintenance projects, preventive maintenance schedules, and emergency repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform a variety of maintenance and repair tasks on machinery, equipment, and building systems.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
- Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics to complete repairs.
- Install, calibrate, and maintain mechanical and electrical components.
- Respond to maintenance requests and emergencies promptly to resolve issues.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance work, including parts used, repair details, and equipment status.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards.
- Train and mentor junior maintenance staff (e.g., Maintenance Tech 1) as needed.
- Assist in sourcing and maintaining an inventory of parts, tools, and equipment.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance maintenance efficiency.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in maintenance, repair, or a related field required.
- At least 18 years of age.
Skills and Competencies:
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems and identify root causes of issues.
- Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and automation systems is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds regularly.
- Capability to work in various environments, including outdoor, noisy, or confined spaces.
- Frequent standing, bending, climbing, and working in awkward positions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in maintenance-related fields such as HVAC, electrical work, and plumbing.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
