Position Description: The primary purposes of the position are:
- To bring all raw materials and supplies to all departments for production and
- Remove all finished goods from all departments and place in the warehouse for shipment to customers.
Material Handler Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Locates materials and supplies in the warehouse using various production order information in the computer systems.
- Delivers located materials and supplies to appropriate departments for processing.
- Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock, recording location of inventory using scanning tools.
- Weighing, moving, and organizing pallets and containers of various materials, sizes, and weights.
- Meeting all quality and production standards, minimizing scrap and downtime.
- Labeling, packaging, and palletizing all items for storage, inventory, and shipping.
Key Competencies:
- Performing all job functions in a safe manner, follow and enforce all TRIDENT policies and procedures.
- Leading housekeeping efforts and always maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
- Identifying and immediately communicating personnel and safety issues to the Shift Supervisor and assisting with investigations and resolutions of the issues if needed.
- Communicating and working with personnel to ensure an appropriate quantity and quality of raw materials is delivered to the Department as needed.
- Accurate and complete reporting of production and quality data both manually and in computer systems.
- Reporting any continuous improvement opportunities to the Shift Supervisor.
- Moving materials as needed using forklifts or overhead cranes.
Qualifications
- Excellent safety and attendance record.
- Report on time for scheduled shifts and follow company attendance policies.
- Possesses strong communication skills both written and verbal.
- Possesses basic knowledge in math, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
- Possesses basic computer skills.
- Possesses basic problem-solving skills.
- Understands production rates and production schedules.
- Ability to balance and achieve results in the areas of Safety, Quality, Productivity and Cost Reduction
- Must have the ability to complete two or more tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision and maintain a working and up-to-date knowledge of products and services.
- Must be able to handle self in a professional manner with co-workers and supervisors.
- Ability to take responsibility for self and team.
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to continually bend, stoop, crouch, reach above shoulder, use arms, wrists, grasp and squeeze with hands, access constricted spaces, and lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
- Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to dusty or dirty ambient conditions.
- Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to hot or cold ambient conditions.
- Must be able to withstand occasional exposure to mild chemical irritants.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing equipment.
- Excellent forklift skills with the ability to safely move pallets of material into storage racks.
- Ability to use an overhead crane to safely move products and machine parts with no damage.
- Training would be a mixture of online training on safety, quality, and production procedures along with on-the-job training conducted by an experienced Material Handler.
- Additional training would be provided as needed by the Assistant Production Manager and Shift Supervisor.
- Training duration would normally be 2 weeks.
