Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position that works on average 40 or more hours a week. Additional hours may be required. This position has a standard work week of 8:00am-5:00pm Monday through Friday; schedule may vary based on agency needs at the discretion of the direct supervisor and/or CEO.
Summary:
The PACE Transportation Supervisor for Pioneer Resources is directly responsible for coordination and evaluation of transportation services and programs that support people with mobility impairments, developmental disabilities, and senior citizens, specifically as it relates to contracted services with LifeCircles PACE.
Essential Functions:

Essential functions of this position include:
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of employees assigned under direct supervision.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the current collective bargaining agreement, abide by the terms of the agreement and work with assigned stewards to promote efficiency and teamwork.
- Review and approve payroll for personnel assigned under direct supervision; work cooperatively with human resources and finance office staff to assure the relevancy and timeliness of information about employees.
- Ensure all prescribed safety practices and agency policies are followed by transportation staff at PACE and other locations as assigned.
- Assist in monitoring the condition of vehicles at the PACE location and report the need for both preventative maintenance and repairs to the Fleet Manager.
- For evaluation purposes, conduct random observations at the PACE location to determine driver’s compliance with pick-up and drop-off procedures, as well as their driving abilities.
- Assist Transportation Managers with the scheduling process of bus drivers to assure that PACE bus runs, special requests and medical transports are appropriately staffed.
- Attend PACE IDT Meetings, preferably in person pending on schedule availability.
- Be the primary point of contact for all PACE related questions or concerns, both for PACE employees and Pioneer drivers.
- Oversee dispatch from PACE location(s).
- Coordinate receipt or distribution of all required documentation and reporting between PACE and Pioneer Resources as needed, including safety data, mileage reporting and audit information requests.
- Assist Transportation Managers with PACE related administrative work, as needed.
- Coordinate and communicate responses to all PACE grievance, complaint and incident reports related to PACE participants; provide input and resolution to all necessary parties within required reporting period (24 hours).
- Conduct monthly routine meetings with PACE designee to coordinate proactive resolutions and overall process improvements.
Education/Talent Requirements:
- A Bachelor degree in business administration, public administration or a closely related field and at least one year of experience with transportation services or human services, preferably in a supervisory position, OR a high school diploma with two to five years of experience in transportation or human services and two years in a supervisory position preferred.
- An ability to communicate clearly orally and in writing.
- Excellent computer skills with experience in computerized routing systems, word processing and data entry.
- The ability to read and write English, and the ability to comprehend written instructions and record information.
- The capacity to work in a team with intermittent supervision.
- The ability to work respectfully and courteously with a wide variety of individuals; an ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor when working with passengers, families and the referring agency personnel.
- This employee will be required to successfully complete all required initial and update trainings.
- This position requires driving. Individuals must have a valid Michigan driver’s license with three (3) or more years of driving experience, less than six (6) points, and no exclusionary violations on driving record.
- Must pass all required background checks, physicals, and drug screens. If the background check reveals disqualifying information, employment shall be terminated unless the disqualifying information was successfully appealed as inaccurate, expunged or set aside.
Travel:
Up to 15%. Company vehicle may be supplied, as one is available. Required travel could include travel to meetings, trainings and conferences, as well as possible daily work between the Muskegon and Holland locations.
Work Environment:
This employee usually works in an office environment but may be required to perform job duties outside of the typical office setting. Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phone, printers, and light foot traffic). Ability to work in a confined area. This position works in close proximity to people. While the majority of working time is spent indoors in a residential environment or office, employees in this position may work outdoors in all seasons for short periods of time, e.g. assisting a resident into a vehicle, taking a resident on an outing, etc.
Physical Demands of the Job:
Primarily sedentary work: while performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer, telephone, keyboard, etc. May be required to reach, stoop, or kneel to perform miscellaneous duties. Occasional light lifting up to 10 lbs may be expected. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures, transcribing, viewing a computer terminal, extensive reading, and various visual inspection requirements.
