What You Should Know About the Echocardiography Technologist:
- Seven days a week: Typical hours 6:00 - 3:30. No call unless a physician request is made.
- This position is based within Jefferson Regional Cardiology Department
Job Summary:
The Echocardiographer, or cardiac sonographer, is responsible for performing echocardiographic
examinations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiac conditions. This includes the use of
ultrasound technology to create images of the heart and its structures, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images and information for the cardiologist.
Echocardiography Technologist Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical Diploma or Associate’s Degree in cardiovascular technology, diagnostic medical sonography with a focus in echocardiology, or other related field preferred.
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certification- preferred.
- Registered Cardiac Sonographer Certification- preferred.
- BLS/CPR required upon hire or obtain within

- Minimum requirements:
- Adequate verbal and written communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficiency in computer software
- Able to multi-task efficiently.
- Preferred requirements:
- Minimum of two years’ cardiology experience a plus.
- Knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology
- Proficiency with echocardiography equipment, including ultrasound machines and related software.
