About the Department
Under general supervision of the BGSU Firelands lab manager, provide basic technical support and monitor the daily technology support services lab/help desk operations.

Position Duties
- Provides basic technical support to users by researching and answering questions using resources provided.
- Provides answers to clients by identifying problems, researching answers, and guiding clients through corrective steps using resources provided.
- Administer admissions placement testing in compliance with policy and security procedures.
- Issue BGSU Photo IDs in compliance with policy and security procedures.
- Issue myBGSU accounts in compliance with policy and security procedures.
- Provide backup support to switchboard operators by answering main telecommunications lines and transfer calls to appropriate offices.
- Comply with all policy and procedures of OTSS/ITS and data security guidelines.
- Accommodates client disabilities by recommending devices and techniques.
- Improves system performance by identifying problems and recommending changes.
- Basic troubleshooting of printers.
- Assist users with scanning and copying equipment.
- Assist Users with BG1 Card Services.
Minimum Qualifications
- PC Proficiency
- Working knowledge of word processing software
- Working knowledge of spreadsheet software
- Working knowledge of presentation software
- Working knowledge of database software
- Must maintain a 2.0 GPA or above
- Students may not have any criminal records involving identity theft, theft, larceny, fraud, and/or corruption or exploitation of minors
- Students within this position should be alert and responsive to clients
- Maintain a professional attitude, behavior, and quality focus
- Students must keep confidential all passwords, data, student record information, and always maintain secure records
- Students must take accurate phone messages and work requests
- Walk around the labs every 15 minutes and record the number of clients
- Keep labs neat, orderly, and sanitized
- Students must be able to lift a minimum of 30 pounds as on occasion students may be requested to assist in moving equipment
- Must possess the ability to work on a team in a fast-paced environment
- Must be self-motivated to learn and have excellent problem-solving skills
- Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
