General Purpose:
The Systems Administrator is responsible for managing the application systems used by Sandestin, including hospitality-vertical line-of-business applications, general business applications, security and systems management applications, and others as needed. System management and administration may include deployment, updating, upgrading, configuring, troubleshooting, and supporting. Position is primary support liaison with application and system vendors.
Essential Duties:
- Administers policies regarding use of computers and data access (e.g. updating software, administer user accounts, set group policies, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring compliance with policy and departmental guidelines.
- Works directly with third party hardware/software vendors to make sure all systems are installed, configured, upgraded, patched, and secure for use at all times.
- Assesses malfunctions of computer hardware and/or software applications for the purpose of determining appropriate actions to minimize any downtime within operations. Acts as the IT liaison, when appropriate, between resort personnel and third-party support vendors to resolve hardware/software issues.
- Routinely monitors, detects, reports, responds to and resolves any vulnerabilities or security risks related to the network or specific hardware/software on a daily basis. This includes reviewing any system and application logs.
- Perform and verify daily backups are completed successfully and stored appropriately.
- Participate and assist with technical issues during the initiation and planning stages of any projects including technical analysis, design, testing, implementation and post-implementation support.
- Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files and/or records (e.g. permission levels, network identification, security access, licenses, work logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, providing reference and audit trails.
- Attends meetings as assigned for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university preferred; and three to five years related experience and/or training. Experience in hospitality (hotel, resort, restaurant) technology and applications desired.
Basic Required Skills:
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace.
- Must have excellent computer skills
- Able to work with limited supervision
- Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
- Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the rooms discipline and hospitality profession, including experiential knowledge for management of people and complex problems.
- May be required: to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands:
- Most work tasks are performed indoors. Temperature is moderate and controlled by hotel environmental systems.
- Sitting, walking, and standing are required throughout the working day. Length of time of these tasks may vary from day to day and task to task.
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill tasks.
- Must be able to exert a well-paced ability to maneuver between functions occurring simultaneously.
- Must be able to lift items weighing up to 25-50 lbs. as needed.
- Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability, and visual acuity.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors, and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
- Requires manual dexterity to use and operate all necessary equipment.
Certificates/Licenses: Systems Administrator/Systems Engineer Certification preferred
