The starting salary will be determined with consideration given to both the candidate's educational background and relevant work experience.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record per County policy.
This is a non-exempt position working 37.5 hours weekly/1950 hours annually.
Position Duties
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
- Troubleshoots, determines methods of repair for HVAC, carpentry, minor electrical and plumbing, and completes necessary repairs; rewires switches and checks fuses; repairs door closures and locks; replaces lights and light fixtures; repairs cleaning equipment; repairs plumbing fixtures, repairs leaks, maintains fire extinguishers and emergency lighting; repairs HVAC failures.
- Assists other members of the maintenance crew as needed.
- Contact and work with approved outside contractors as needed.
- Orders, erects, and installs street signs.
- Performs preventive maintenance on air conditioner and heating system; makes or coordinates repairs to each; maybe required to use specialized tools for HVAC work, including but not limited to gauges to add Freon.
- Performs floor maintenance; strips and waxes floors; buffs floors; vacuums and shampoos carpet.
- Delivers and picks up voting equipment to/from precincts for Elections Department.
- Performs building maintenance duties, such as but not limited to cleaning windows, painting/repairing walls, minor roofing, etc.
- Purchases, picks up and delivers supplies as needed.
- Moves furniture and office equipment as requested.
- Receives work orders, determines work schedule, and terminates work order when work is completed.
- Assists with County Airport hangars, lighting, fire pump, and underground waterline maintenance.
- Custodial work required periodically; Empties trash receptacles, cleans offices, bathrooms, etc.
- Performs related work as required to assist other County Departments.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
- Experience in trades and building maintenance or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Other Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
