JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: JH Park Ranger
REPORTS TO: JH Park Lead/ Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: JH Park
CLASSIFICATION: Seasonal Full Time
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
GENERAL PURPOSE
To provide the users in our venues with a safety conscious environment, consistency, and excellent customer service.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Assist lead in completing daily duties as outlined in the JH Park Handbook. (Set- up, inspection, logs, and maintenance of terrain features)
- Circulate through all venues checking fences, signage, and terrain features.
- Be a team player. If you see something that looks like it needs to be done- Check in with the lead
- Promote safety and goodwill through ‘one on one’ communication with our guests.
- Acquire acute safety practices pertaining to the above mentioned activities and other related equipment.
- Operate snowmobiles as directed by the JHMR Snowmobile Handbook.
OTHER FUNCTIONS
- Execute Skier Safety tasks as obligated by JHMR standards.
- Posses abilities to do most work unassisted in shop
- Handrail construction/ Repairs/ Painting (Exception: Welding) as directed by lead
- Perform other duties as assigned by the JH Park supervisor or lead

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITY
- Knowledge of basic terrain feature maintenance skills
- Awareness of Ski Area operations
- Expert snowboarding/skiing ability required. (Workers with a lower level of skills will be encouraged to spend more time in the lower level park until sufficient skills exist.) SmartStyle #2
EDUCATION OR FORMAL TRAINING
- High school graduate or G.E.D.
- Previous experience in the ‘trades’ EX: construction, welding, heavy equipment
EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience in terrain park usage/ etiquette
- General Hand rail repair
MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
- Rakes, shovels, and chainsaw
- Snowmobiles
WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES
- Outdoors in very cold temperatures
- Walking over varied terrain uphill up to 1/2 mile
- Lift heavy objects, including snowmobiles
- Skiing with bamboo, signs, tools, hoses, etc.
