The NCSB is seeking an Outpatient Counselor IV to join the Child and Adolescent Services division. This position works as part of an interdisciplinary team serving youth in need of behavioral healthcare services in an outpatient setting. Responsibilities include completion of clinical comprehensive needs assessments, IACCT assessments and reassessments, development and maintenance of individualized treatment plans, crisis counseling as needed, and individual, family, and group outpatient therapy.
Position Duties
- Conducts clinical comprehensive needs assessments, identifies clinical diagnoses, and provides recommendations for appropriate services for youth in need of behavioral health services.
- Completes IACCT assessments and reassessments for families seeking out of home placement.
- Develops individualized treatment plans that reflect the identified needs of the individual assessed.
- Provides behavioral healthcare services, such as individual, family, and group therapy sessions.
- Provides crisis interventions as needed.
- Works collaboratively with the Child and Adolescent Service team, referral agencies, and community partners to provide integrated care.
- Initiates, completes, and maintains program records and documentation in accordance with policies and procedures.
- Assists in the development and implementation of special projects at the request of the Clinical Coordinator.
- Participates in regular supervision and consults with other team members.
- Performs other work-related projects as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable and progressive related experience, preferably in treatment of persons with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, and/or Psychology.
- Minimum of two (2) years progressive related experience, preferably in the treatment of children and adolescents with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues.
- Experience providing behavioral health services to individuals in a crisis setting (e.g., Emergency Services, Child Protective Services, Crisis Hotline, domestic violence, etc.).
Other Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License may be required depending on assignment.
- License eligible by the Commonwealth of Virginia (e.g., Resident in Counseling, Supervisee in Social Work, Resident in Clinical Psychology, etc.) preferred.
- Additional certification or training in evidence-based practices and interventions, such as Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) and/or trauma treatment modalities (TF-CBT, DBT, EMDR, etc.).
- CPR certification within six months of hire is preferred.
