Position Summary
We are seeking a Health Information Management Clerk to join our growing team. This position plays a critical role in supporting the imaging team by obtaining prior records, maintaining accurate data in our RIS system, and ensuring the privacy and accuracy of patient information.
Key Responsibilities
- Contact outside facilities to obtain prior imaging for comparison studies
- Upload and manage outside images via PowerShare electronic records system
- Answer multi-line phone system courteously and direct inquiries appropriately
- Process incoming and outgoing CDs and other image records
- Compile, track, and update data related to prior imaging records
- Maintain organized and complete medical records
- Assist with other clerical duties and special projects as needed
- Maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and patient privacy standards
- Attend staff meetings and participate in training sessions
Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience
- Minimum of one year of experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
- Familiarity with medical terminology
Skills & Abilities
- Intermediate computer skills, especially in medical record systems
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Excellent organization and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work in a team and independently
- Understanding of privacy and HIPAA regulations
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting, typing, and reviewing records
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally
Working Conditions
- Work is performed in an office and/or clinical setting
- Regular interaction with staff, patients, and external facilities
- Occasional exposure to patient health information
