If so, we may have the right position for you! Our co-op is currently looking for an experienced and well versed Bookkeeper for our busy finance department.

The purpose of this position is to handle key bookkeeping tasks required to maintain timely and accurate financial reporting and filings.  This position has some supervisory function and is the primary contact for our finance department.  A Hybrid component can be utilized after the training period is complete.  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without a reasonable accommodation.  Quickbooks Online experience is required for this positon.

Schedule: Monday through Friday with flexibility for company events

A hybrid work schedule will be considered after successful completion of trial period.

Pay Range: Begins at $24.00 to $26.00 per hour

Requirements

 Department Operations

  • Reconciliation of Daily Sales from the Point of Sale System and accounting to book into the Financial System. Refining process, tracing any and all imbalances, confirming deposits for manual and processed entries and booking accordingly. Reconciling each month’s total in the Financial System to monthly Point of Sale reports.
  • Providing basic general ledger accounting and account reconciliation support to Finance Manager in areas such as prepaid and accrued expenses, gift card liabilities, coupon receivable and redemption. Aiding in establishing, improving and documenting proper accounting procedures for activities.  
  • Coordinating with Front End & Membership on member related accounting, such as setting up and recording Member Owner Installment Plans, communicating with Member Owners regarding their Equity or Loan status and supporting the Finance Manager in processing Member Loan interest and principle payments and annual 1099INT forms. 
  • Posting entries and bi-weekly payroll Journal Entries and coordinating with HR on payroll related accounting. 
  • Formatting recurring Excel reports used by the Management Team 
  • Providing reporting from the financial system to buyers and department managers for their areas as required, including such reports as monthly Marketing Expense versus Budget, summary of specific vendor purchases and year/year comparisons. 
  • Basic tax and regulatory reporting: NH Sales/Meals Tax, NH BET tax accrual calculation and accounting, Completing various surveys as required.
  • Support for other questions/tasks requiring basic bookkeeping as required by the business with the direction of the Finance Manager. 
  • Some supervision responsibility of Finance Assistant

Department Maintenance 

  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining banking, tax and permanent files in timely manner.
  • Maintain electronic files and monthly records to prepare for annual audit 
  • Ensure adherence to required record retention guidelines for all Non-Accounts Payable records.

  • Sufficient vision to perform your job safely and accurately
  • Effective communication skills to listen and to give clear directions in English

  • Write basic professional business correspondence
  • Effectively explain information in one-on-one or small group situations to staff
  • Knowledge and experience with QuickBooks Online, Excel, Word and other appropriate accounting tools. 
  • Add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Minimum of two years responsible accounting or bookkeeping experience including accounts payable, payroll and general ledger bookkeeping/accounting as well as chart of account maintenance.
  • Experience with preparation and explanation of financial reports.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements of processing various accounting transactions, surveys and basic tax filings.
  • Accounting/Bookkeeping certificate definitely preferred. Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Due to the specific responsibilities of this job, and to protect our co-op from financial risk, employment is contingent on passing a background and credit check
