SUMMARY
Performs a wide variety of assembly/fabrication/production and/or operator tasks. Duties and responsibilities include following blueprints, piecing together specified metal parts, such as copper, cast iron pipes or joints, and then using a specialized torch to heat two combined metals until they melt and join with filler rod. Sets up equipment and assists lower-level production workers in the set-up and operation of machinery and equipment.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)
- Safety- Company targets with department goals per yearly approved KPIs.
- Quality- Company targets with department goals per yearly approved KPIs.
- Production- Company targets with department goals per yearly approved KPIs.
- Passing Score of 80 or Higher on Written Exam
- Braze Practicing time of 10hrs.
- Passing Score of 80 or Higher on Practical Exam
- Less than 4 Gas Leaks per Month by QC
- Braze Cross Training on Level 1 Line Braze Criteria
- Must meet standard cycle time.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Operates all relevant machinery, tools, and equipment and undertakes standard and complex production tasks in accordance with instructions.
- Determines and selects raw materials and parts required to prepare for the production process.
- Set ups or adjusts equipment according to manufacturing specifications. Performs “first piece” inspections during the assembly and/or fabrication process to identify quality issues.
- Ensures that equipment is always operational and performs minor troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment.
- Monitors production for quality and adjusts machines or processes to correct problems.
- Ensures operational safety requirements are always met.
- Utilizes concentration and observational skills, and manual dexterity.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of progressively difficult assembly/fabrication experience. Requires broad skills with the ability to operate a variety of production machines and equipment.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Requires knowledge of brazing equipment, machinery, and operations
- Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment.
- Motivated self-starter
- Ability to multitask and change priorities at a moment’s notice.
PHYSCIAL REQUIREMENTS
Manufacturing:
- Works predominantly on the manufacturing floor. May be exposed to heat, electrical and mechanical hazards, noise, solvents, dust, dirt, fumes, contaminants, cold, noise, vibration, etc.
- Climbing, stooping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing and ability to move material weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Ability to perform basic preventive maintenance tasks on tools and equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, gas torches and measuring instruments.
- Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals and use measuring equipment
- Requires standing for prolonged periods of time.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
- Must be able to walk and use hands.
- Ability to read, write, listen, and communicate effectively.
