Summary

The QA Specialist will be responsible for ensuring quality and compliance of manufacturing operations and managing administrative tasks for the department, including but not limited to, assembling work order packages for review, creating AS9102 reports, creating work order folders, maintaining the calibration log, and gathering equipment as needed to send out for calibration, maintain vendor certification.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to: 


  • Gather all required documentation and certifications to assemble package for review.
  • Coordinate external source inspection.
  • Create AS9102 first article reports for all work orders.
  • Create work order folders for all jobs that are planned.
  • Manage calibration records process by ensuring all tools are calibrated within schedule.
  • Data entry and archiving of records according to procedures.
  • Maintain records of all vendor certifications.
  • Ensure all vendors have current certifications, NADCAP, ISO, etc.
  • Issue and track vendor surveys.
  • Establish collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure timely documentation and resolution of quality issues.
  • Manage front office visitor check in’s. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

  • High School Degree or General Education Degree; or 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • One (1) + year(s) of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment highly desired.
  • One (1) + year(s) in a quality assurance role.


Required Skills:

  • Language: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply a general understanding to carry out detailed, written and oral instructions. Ability to deal with and solve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Mathematical Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Other Abilities: Knowledge of sheet metal and aerospace materials preferred. Must possess basic knowledge of geometric tolerance. Must possess thorough knowledge of materials planning systems (MRP/ERP) requirements and order generation process logic. Must have experience in customer management, contract review and implementation, quality management systems, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) through the utilization and application of Six Sigma tools. Must have knowledge of DCMA regulations, ISO and AS9100 quality standard requirements. Must have experience with the control and disposition of non-conforming material.  Must have the ability to work on complex projects with general direction and minimal guidance.

Physical Demands/ Work Environment: 

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to stand 6 to 8 hours a day. Must be able to work with their hands, arms and be extremely accurate. Must be able to walk, and on a regular basis. The employee must frequently lift      and/or move up to 25 pounds. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. 
  • Customary physical demands for an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving high-speed machinery and mechanical parts on the production floor. The employee is occasionally exposed to machine oils, metal fillings, acetone, paints, solvents, grease, cutting fluids, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of electrical shock or vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
