The Supervisor Family Wellness exists to ensure effective leadership and management of community social service workers responsible for the provision of a full range of essential social programs and services. Programs include child protection and family services. Delivery is governed by a series of Acts, such as the Child and Family Services Act, the Adoptions Act, Indigent Health Benefits (I.H.B.) and a variety of acts governing professionals as well as various professional and Departmental standards and legal procedures.
The position should provide an integrated system of programs and support which residents of Nunavut communities have confidence in, and which are delivered in a reliable and professional manner, and which enhance the social status of the population.
Responsibilities
This is a senior level practitioner position, which has responsibility of managing and providing direct supervision to social workers at various levels of qualification, experience and training and support staff.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are typically acquired through an undergraduate degree in social work, three (3) years related experience including assessing, interviewing, counseling and facilitating and one (1) year of supervisory experience.
A valid Nunavut Class 5 driver’s license is an asset.
Qualifications
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
