The Opportunity
Allegro MicroSystems is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Principal Applications Engineer to join our Inductive and Magnetic Position Sensor product line team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in providing strategic technical support to our key customers and driving product definition, ensuring robust product verification. You will collaborate closely with Allegro's systems, design, and test engineers, marketing, field applications teams, and industry-leading customers to define and deliver innovative position sensors solutions for automotive and industrial markets.
What You Will Do
Lead technical engagements and drive customer design-in activities for key customer oppensuring successful product integration for Allegro Inductive and Magnetic Position sensor ICs by providing expert systems and applications engineering support, including sensor design, simulation, prototyping, and testing.
Lead the development of internal and customer-facing tools for design and simulations of inductive and magnetic position sensors solutions.
Oversee and perform applications-based testing in the laboratory to verify the proper performance and functionality of Allegro Position Sensors ICs under real-world conditions.
Develop comprehensive application notes, white papers, technical presentations, and demonstration platforms to showcase the capabilities and benefits of Allegro's inductive and magnetic sensing technologies.
Collaborate closely with product development, design, and marketing teams to define requirements for new products based on market trends, customer feedback, and competitive analysis, particularly for Robotics and automotive applications.
What You Will Need
MSEE or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
5+ years of industry experience in Sensor Applications with a proven track record of Inductive Position Sensors customer design wins and direct customer-facing engagement.
Demonstrated expertise and in-depth knowledge of inductive and magnetic sensing technologies, principles and applications.
Excellent object-oriented programming skills in C++, C#, Python, MATLAB or equivalent.
Solid knowledge and practical experience with PCB design software (Altium or equivalent).
Extensive hands-on electronics laboratory experience, proficient in utilizing a diverse array of tools and test methodologies for thorough sensor characterization and troubleshooting.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills for diagnosing complex technical issues and delivering innovative solutions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to diverse audiences, from engineers to executive leadership.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
