- Master of Library & Information Studies degree, or equivalent, from ALA-accredited institution is required.
- Experience working with community organizations, Aboriginal peoples, and newcomer populations is preferred.
- Experience working as a professional Librarian is preferred.
- A commitment to upholding the Canadian Federation of Library Associations position statements on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion.
- Ability to assess community interests and needs, and to plan services accordingly, in keeping with the Library's business plan and strategic directions.
- Ability to work effectively with customers of all ages and backgrounds; experience working with users from a wide variety of cultural, economic, social and educational backgrounds is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively outside of traditional library activities and settings.
- Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and new service directions.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal, communication, presentation and collaboration skills.
- Ability to contribute positively and work effectively within a team environment.
$41.02 - $52.36 per hour*
- Satisfactory background screenings is required for this position which includes a Criminal Record Check/Police Information Check.
- This position consists of varied schedules which include day, evening and weekend shifts. Community Librarians are subject to variable hours of work as per the Collective Agreement and shift length may vary based on operational needs.
