The Opportunity
Reporting to the Commissioner – Corporate Services, as the Manager you will be responsible for the overall strategic management, direction, and day to day operation of the Licensing & Enforcement Division. Along with the general responsibilities of managing the operation, and administering Divisional policies and procedures, the specific responsibilities of the position include ensuring the efficient and effective operation and delivery of Municipal Enforcement Services, animal services, and administering business and other licenses and permits on behalf of the City of Thunder Bay.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Degree in law enforcement, criminology, public or business administration, management, planning, or other related discipline together with 8 years’ work experience involving law enforcement; or
- Diploma in law enforcement, criminology, public or business administration, management, planning, or other related discipline together with 12 years of work-related experience
- Experience in a management capacity in a large, unionized government or private sector organization
- Experience in business management, planning, budgets, and finance
- Experience in the various components of human resources management
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable municipal by-laws, provincial legislation and related regulations for licensing and enforcement; specifically, the Municipal Act as it relates to the activities of the Division
- Proven acumen in business and financial management, with the ability to improve Divisional effectiveness and efficiency through the management and utilization of human, financial, and physical resources
