The department of Human Development and Family Sciences is dedicated to creating and applying knowledge that can improve the lives of individuals, families and communities. Our interdisciplinary research and education span individual development, relationships and societal contexts, exploring diverse aspects of human growth and interaction. 

This is an ideal role for students seeking introductory research experience., and for students seeking skills to attend graduate school or professional school (medical school, law school, etc), but not required. For academic or professional development; course credit (HDF 359 or equivalent) may be arranged. Schedule is flexible and the role may be fully remote, hybrid, or on-site. 

This role requires proficiency in both English and Spanish, both verbal and written communications.

Purpose:

Project DUAL investigates how bilingual experiences affects the development of young adults. Research Assistants will help with data management and learning the administrative side of research.

Responsibilities:

Project DUAL is actively analyzing data collected from our study. During this processing phase, Spanish-speaking RAs may contribute to the following:

  • Assisting with Spanish-language transcripts and interview materials
  • Reviewing and refining bilingual research documents
  • Preparing for future bilingual data collection

Additional responsibilities that RAs may contribute to:

  • Processing and analyzing existing data
  • Testing cognitive tasks for future use
  • Assisting with RA trainings and coordination
  • Training scheduler (being the organizer to schedule trainings)
  • Email confirmation coordinator (prepares and sends confirmation emails)
  • Attendance tracker (manages attendance and meeting reminders)
  • Supporting essential administrative tasks that keep the project going

Required Qualifications:

  • Fluency in English and Spanish, with strong verbal and written communications.
  • Must be a current UT Student, all majors are welcomed.
  • Strong organizational skills and/or the ability to pay attention to detail.
  • Students seeking research experience. This position would be ideal for students seeking skills to attend graduate school or professional school (medical school, law school, etc.) but not required.

Salary Range:

This is an unpaid internship.

Working Conditions:

  • Occasional virtual and in-person meetings.
  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.

Work Shift:

  • 6-9 hours per week.
  • Must be able to manage time independently to meet experiential learning requirements.
  • Schedule is flexible and the role may be fully remote, hybrid, or on-site.
