BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER (ENTREPRENEURIAL AGENTS)

This role is responsible for sales and business development of assigned insurance region through aligning agency sales operations, objectives, and business development goals to help meet the overall strategic company objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain and establish on-going, positive relationship with Entrepreneurial Agent (EA), collaborating with the EA to monitor objectives, review activity and coach to help drive production, lead generation activity, retention and account management.

  • Serves as liaison between EAs and the company. Responsible for attracting new agency opportunities.

  • Conducts regular formal business reviews with assigned EA’s and provides on-going support on sales strategies and tactics aimed at increasing productivity, quality and profitability.

  • Reports on the on-going operations of the assigned contracted EA for the assigned region, providing recommendations and market insights.

  • Collaborate with insurance leadership to review and evaluate performance of various campaigns and design and implement programs to encourage increased performance.

  • Partner with Service and Retention leadership to ensure that insured members are updated on AAA’s service model and processes.

  • Develop and maintain positive partnerships with company sales, marketing, claims and underwriting resources.

  • Develop, oversee, and communicate agency policies to ensure quality standards are maintained.

  • Contribute to planning and execution of budgeted goals.

  • Achieve and maintain an acceptable expense/revenue ratio, profit margin and growth rate.

  • Provide support and assistance to the leadership team.

  • Contributes to a positive team dynamic through respectful interactions, positive contributions, and active collaboration to achieve department and organizational goals.

  • Shares in AAA’s vision, mission and values in day-to-day activities and behaviors; guides and motivates others to remain aware of AAA’s vision, mission and values.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This job does not have supervisory responsibility.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA) in sales, business, or related field or equivalent experience

  • 4+ years’ experience in insurance industry

  • 3+ years’ experience in leadership or management role

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in insurance technologies preferred.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Active WA State Property & Casualty and Life & Disability Insurance license

  • Industry designations or certifications preferred

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of personal lines, commercial lines, and life insurance including fundamental insurance principles, underwriting and risk selection, and policy provisions.

  • Knowledge of MS Office and navigating the internet.

  • Competent in agency and carrier applications and systems.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing, including effective use of listening skills.

  • Ability to use appropriate interpersonal styles and methods to reduce tension or conflict, relate positively to people in stressful situations, and remain calm under pressure.

  • Ability to address multiple demands and adjust style and approach to suit situations that involve rapidly changing tasks, shifting priorities, simultaneous demands, or transitions into new assignments.

  • Ability to make timely and sound decisions, understanding the impact and implications and providing feedback on outcomes.

  • Ability to take extra measures and independent action to solve problems and get work done when the situation calls for it while holding self and others accountable.

  • Skilled in working as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues, establishing rapport and gaining the trust of others.

  • Capable of mentoring, motivating and guiding others toward both individual and organization goals and to fulfill the shared vision.

  • Models a high standard of quality and commitment to serving the public to include building strong relationships with members inside and outside the organization while developing trust and credibility with the members.

 

SALARY:

  • Hiring Range: $120,666 - $144,840 annually

  • Full Pay Band for the Role: $120,666 - $168,912 annually

Actual pay will be based on factors such as experience, skills, and internal equity.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Hybrid work from home and office required.

  • The physical environment is typical of a standard office space.  It requires the employee to work inside for the duration of work.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position, sitting for more than 50% of the time. This position will require occasionally moving about inside the office to access equipment, cabinets, etc. May work around office equipment which could be noisy, such as copiers and fax machines. 

 

OTHER:

  • Equipment used: Computer, phone, various virtual technologies and programs, other office equipment.

  • Travel: Consistent travel (>50%)
