Overview:

Boston Bruins is seeking a temporary full-time Communications Graduate Assistant to join our team at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts.

 

The Boston Bruins Communications Graduate Assistant is an all-encompassing position that ensures experience and education in all aspects of the Department. The role is primarily responsible for assisting the Department’s Hockey and Corporate Communications strategy but will also play an integral role in supporting the Content and Production groups daily.

Unit Description:

Delaware North purchased the historic Boston Garden in 1975 and later constructed its successor, TD Garden, and neighboring The Hub on Causeway, both of which we continue to own and operate. As New England’s largest sports and entertainment arena, TD Garden is the home of the storied NHL’s Boston Bruins and NBA’s Boston Celtics franchises and hosts over 200 events annually with over 3.5 million visitors.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day admin of Boston Bruins media distribution list, including building and researching a broader contact list beyond Boston and traditional hockey reporters (e.g,. lifestyle, sports business, etc.)
  • Assist with writing and support of all PR/Marketing Communications as needed, including drafting news releases, fact sheets, briefing materials, press kits/mailers, etc.
  • Actively monitor media coverage and develop daily coverage recaps for the Boston Bruins on both the business and hockey sides 
  • Compile research and competitive media analysis reports to identify key trends and stay on top of buzz-worthy news in Boston, across the NHL, and around the sports & entertainment industry
  • Support game-day media operations for all Boston Bruins home games, which includes setting up all media areas, the press box, and credential distribution.
  • Support other events, such as the NHL Draft and Development Camp
  • Assist in the creation and management of the Communications Department cross-functional calendar 
  • Work cross-functionally with all business departments, which includes, but is not limited to, attending meetings and briefings, and communicating their different initiative-based needs
  • Support the needs of the Content and Production teams on an as-needed basis at morning skates, games, and events
  • Support the Boston Bruins Business office with administrative tasks, such as player and staff mail, and assorted mail room
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, which includes being organized, responsible, and punctual.
  • Recent college graduate pursuing a career in Strategic Communications, Public Relations, Media Relations, or equivalent preferred
  • Familiar with the public relations, marketing, or communications discipline through past coursework, internships, or personal experience
  • Strong verbal communicator and writer with a passion for and understanding of public relations and the traditional and social media landscape
  • Entrepreneurial mindset
  • Self-starter
  • Intrinsically motivated person
  • Flexible schedule: the ability to work early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
