How This Role Impacts Live Oak and its People
The Senior Loan Officer - Asset-Based Lending (ABL), will play a pivotal role in advancing the growth of Live Oak's ABL portfolio. The position will report to the Director of the ABL Group, and is a senior-level individual contributor position with a strong focus on new business development, structuring transactions, and partnering cross-functionally to scale the ABL function. This role will work closely with clients to understand their financial needs and provide customized financing solutions that leverage their assets.
What You’ll Do at Live Oak
Drive ABL business development efforts, including sourcing, structuring, and executing complex asset-based lending transactions.
Develop and grow a referral base comprised of professionals in Banks, Private Equity Firms, Investment Banks, other lenders, intermediaries, lawyers, turnaround consultants, and other professional groups.
Responsible for initial relationship contact, face-to-face meetings, and follow-up to develop the relationship and win the deal.
Create detailed proposals using meeting information, and financial and collateral analysis to provide an optimal solution to meet a prospect's financing needs.
Travel as necessary to meet referral sources, prospects and trade events which may include overnight or weekly stays.
Work as a team to meet personal and group Annual Sales Goals and Objectives.
Lead cross-functional collaboration with Credit, Legal, Operations, and Executive teams to ensure seamless deal execution and portfolio management.
Ensure compliance with regulatory, risk, and internal policy frameworks.
How You’ll Do It
Operate with strategic intent while maintaining hands-on execution in deal sourcing and structuring.
Take initiative in identifying new business opportunities and driving them forward independently.
Demonstrate strong financial and credit analysis skills, with the ability to evaluate complex financial structures.
Foster internal alignment by clearly communicating business goals, credit rationale, and client impact.
Maintain a high standard of regulatory awareness including BSA, AML, CIP, and OFAC.
Represent the ABL business externally in industry forums and internally with cross-functional leadership.
Required and Preferred Experience
10+ years of experience in commercial lending, with at least 5 years specifically in asset-based lending required.
Proven track record of executing and managing ABL transactions in a senior capacity required.
Strong business development acumen and experience managing complex client relationships required.
Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving environment required.
Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or related field required; MBA preferred.
Willingness to travel as needed to meet clients and support business development required.
