Maricopa County Elections Department is looking for a customer-focused professional to support elections in our community. In this vital role, you’ll deliver clear and accurate election-related information to voters and community members. You’ll work closely with a dynamic team to ensure the public understands the voting process and feels confident participating in it.

We Require
Two years of constituent relations, public relations, communications, or journalism experience
Associate's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, public administration, or a related field
Professional experience in a related field may substitute for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis
Other Requirements
Must complete the next scheduled Secretary of State Election Officer Certification
Must successfully complete a background screening
Must be eligible to vote in Arizona
Mandatory overtime during all election cycles

High competency in both English and Spanish languages
Experience in an election administration environment
Job Contributions
Provide constituent correspondence and interact with customers to provide effective customer service
Provide specialized assistance with the operations and coordination of the public records requests, information, and documentation
Resolve complex inquiries and complaints from the public or other government agencies
Respond to specific requests by researching, locating, retrieving, and delivering records or information, working in collaboration with other staff
Evaluate, recommend, and implement changes to work methods and procedures that increase efficiency
Create, update, and maintain spreadsheets and databases, which are compiled into reports to assist the organization in making data-driven decisions
Perform and coordinate redaction of confidential, exempt, and sensitive information
Act as liaison regarding administrative issues related to operations, research, and program support
Working Conditions
Exerting up to 20 lbs, occasionally, 10 lbs. of pushing, pulling, or lifting
Requires sitting, walking, or standing to a significant degree
Position is typically office or administrative work and is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions
Frequent engagement with the public in person, by phone, or electronically
Must be able to communicate clearly in both written and verbal formats
Repetitive use of hands for typing, filing, and handling documents
Must not engage in any political discussion
Hybrid schedule options are available after a brief training period, based on business needs
