Job Summary

Under general supervision performs the diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of a large fleet of golf course and park maintenance equipment, ranging from a variety of 2 cycle gasoline engines to 80 horsepower diesel engines and hydraulic systems by performing the following duties.

Job Description

All candidates conditionally offered transfer, promotion or initial hiring into a DOT/safety-sensitive position shall submit to testing for drugs and alcohol and test negative before performing any job functions that are safety-sensitive or require a CDL. External job applicants with a confirmed positive drug or alcohol test result shall be denied employment and shall be required to wait one year before applying for another position within Tulsa County.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions and determine parts and materials needed for repair.
• Order parts.
• Maintain and repair gasoline and diesel engines.
• Repair and maintain hydraulic systems.
• Set height and sharpen high precision reel mowers with tolerance of less than .002 inches.
• Perform field repairs throughout the County Park system.
• Maintain service records for equipment.
• Perform routine tune-ups and preventative maintenance to equipment.
• Repair and/or replace electronic components on equipment.
• Operate diagnostic equipment to assist in equipment failure evaluation.
• Repair fuel systems on various equipment.
• Maintain and organize work area and tools necessary for job performance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of a diverse fleet of turf maintenance equipment.

Ability to work from equipment manuals and schematics to assist in equipment repairs; to repair/rebuild small to mid-size diesel engines; to repair/rebuild fuel systems; to repair/rebuild hydraulic systems; to work under the pressure of short time lines; to work with representatives of parts companies to correctly order replacement parts; to work with a range of personalities when under pressure; and to maintain the stamina necessary for performing physically demanding work.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Graduation from a vocational-technical school with a certificate in gasoline and diesel engine repair technology or a closely related field, and over three years of satisfactory, full time paid employment as a maintenance mechanic, including small engine repair and hydraulic systems; plus reel mower service and repair work or equivalent combination of experience in lieu of education with a maximum substitution of two year.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of place and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software, inventory software, spreadsheet software, and work processing software.
