Job Summary: About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Bowling Center at Sheppard AFB.
Major Duties:
- Cleans, oils, and polishes the bowling lanes and lane approaches adhering to established standards. Sweeps, dusts, and cleans other areas of the bowling facility; collects and removes trash; and maintains all areas in a clean and orderly fashion. Hand sands and varnishes minor flaws in lanes until surface can be conditioned. Makes minor corrective adjustments to bowling lane machinery as necessary, and performs periodic minor preventive maintenance on automatic pinsetter and mechanical equipment. Maintains stock levels and records on spare parts for automatic pinsetter and mechanical equipment. Advises bowling facility management of unusual maintenance problems. Performs other related duties as assigned. Physical effort: Heavy physical effort is required in frequent lifting and moving objects weighing over 50 pounds, and in using heavy hand tools and operating equipment. Working conditions: Works indoors in areas that may be dusty, drafty, and noisy. Special care is required to avoid serious injuries. Requires caution in working with moving parts during operation of equipment. Qualifying Experience: Must have experience which demonstrated the ability to train in the maintenance of bowling lanes and experience which demonstrated the ability to operate, control and clean heavy powered equipment. Must be able to follow oral and/or written instructions. Must be physically able to frequently lift and carry heavy objects weighing in excess of 50 pounds. Skill and knowledge: Some degree of manual skill and prior work experience is required to work safely with heavy hand tools or to operate, control, and clean heavy power equipment. Continual care and attention must be exercised to prevent accidents because of the nature of the duties and the kind of equipment used.
