Salary Range: $20.53 - $35.6 Per Hour

Job Summary: This SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER (ACCELERATED HIRE) position, is located in the Joint Forces Headquarters-State, Logistics Directorate (J-4), Surface Maintenance Facility, and is part of the CA JFHQ SMO. This is an open until filled announcement. The announcement will be posted until all positions have been filled. Major Duties:

  • THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, INDEFINITE/PERMANENT/TEMPORARY POSITION NOT TO EXCEED 1 YEAR. Indefinite Positions: Selectee may be non-competitively converted to permanent status if/when funding becomes available or position becomes unencumbered. Temporary Positions: Selectee may be non-competitively extended up to 4 years if/when funding becomes available in accordance with CNG FPH 001. The primary purpose of the SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-5801-5/8, is to perform limited diagnosis, routine repairs, and maintenance on combat, tactical, commercial, and special purpose vehicles and equipment. May assist higher graded mechanics in the performance of maintenance duties. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Qualifications: General Experience: Possess experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-5801-05 (Trainee): Must have at least 6 months experience using common hand tools in making repetitive repairs under close supervision; Experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the simpler and routine duties of the trade? SURFACE MAINTENANCE REPAIRER (ACCELERATED HIRE), WG-5801-08: Must have at least 12 months experience using common hand and power tools and a small variety of test and measurement devices to make mechanical repairs; Experience removing, adjusting, replacing, cleaning, and installing a variety of parts, components, and accessories; Experience which demonstrates a basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory applying to vehicles; and skill to replace, fit, install, and make adjustments; Experience demonstrating an understanding of the makeup and operation of the various individual systems maintained and their interrelationships; Experience reading and interpreting parts lists, manufactures' repair manuals, diagrams, and electrical schematics.
