Salary Range: $92475 - $120222 Per Year
Job Summary: Who may apply: Current, permanent DFAS employees in the competitive service, eligible DoD PPP Military Spouse preference applicants and current DFAS VRA employees.
Major Duties:
- Serves as a senior specialist with responsibility for the daily effective operation of one or more critical financial/financial management systems as well as responsibility for identifying problems, needed enhancements, and or system changes.
- Leads work efforts in the design, development, testing, evaluation, implementation, review, and maintenance of systems or applications using Audit Command Language (ACL), Oracle APEX, COGNOS, Structure Query Language (SQL) or other applications.
- Adapts and modifies systems and applications to meet requirement changes due to new legislation, revised regulations, or improved business practices.
- Reviews and analyzes various output products to identify systems and/or regulatory problems. Identifies weaknesses and problems in financial subsystems and develops recommendations to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
- Prepares system change/programming specifications, and specifies programming instructions, inputs and outputs, structures, and other analytical products to translate functional requirements to technical requirements.
Qualifications: One year of specialized experience equivalent in level of difficulty and responsibility to that of the next lower grade (GS-11) within the federal service, which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position, is required. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the federal service, identifying, documenting and recommending financial systems requirements; recommending solutions to issues related to integration and data flow of financial systems; and designing, modifying, and enhancing financial systems utilizing applications such as Structured Query Language (SQL) and Visual Basics for Applications (VBA) to ensure effectiveness and efficiency of operations. Time-in-Grade: Current or former federal employees who have held a GS position in the preceding 52 weeks, must meet the time in grade requirement. To be considered for the GS-11, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-9 or higher in the Federal service. To be considered for the GS-12, applicants must have served 52 weeks as a GS-11 or higher in the Federal service. You may qualify for consideration if meeting time-in grade, specialized experience, education requirement, 90 days after competitive appointment requirement, and all other qualification requirements within 30 calendar days after the closing date of the announcement, unless otherwise indicated on the announcement.
