Position Overview

Maintains and is responsible for the accuracy and completeness of a group of general ledger accounts. Reconciles daily and monthly activity in the assigned general ledger accounts to their subsidiary system. Reconciles internal deposit accounts to daily and monthly statement activity. Analyzes and verifies transactions for accuracy and prepares adjusting journal entries to reflect accurate general ledger data. Verifies account documents and forms for completeness. Responsible for researching reconciling items in their assigned accounts. Communicates with branches and departments, prepares written procedures, and other related accounting duties.  Creates more efficient reconciling and reporting processes.

Duties

25% Reconciles under supervision general ledger and deposit accounts including larger application accounts ensuring ledger data agrees with subsidiary reports and deposit account reconciliations agree with the bank statements.

20% Analyzes and verifies transactions and supporting documents for accuracy and completeness.


15% Responsible for accounting research, preparing, and keying any required journal entries, and preparing daily and monthly reconciliation reports from records maintained.


15% Applies laws, regulations, and policies to the maintenance of financial reports.


15% Maintains current written procedures of assigned account reconciliations.


10% Assists branch personnel and other departments in accurately reporting to the general ledger.

Requirements: 
We are seeking a skilled, motivated, team player to join the General Ledger section of our Accounting Department located at the administrative office in downtown Raleigh. A qualified applicant will be able to reconcile challenging balance sheet accounts and prepare related journal entries and reports. Attention to detail and the ability to effectively research reconciling items are a must. They will be able to effectively and efficiently communicate both verbally and in writing. They will be able to prepare procedures manuals and vendor financial analysis as well as other accounting related duties. Applicant must have a four year degree in Accounting or Business related field. Strong Excel skills required.

Job Environment:  
Office setting with physical proximity to other employees.  Some background noise from other employees, copy machine, and telephone. Hybrid work environment with ability to work remotely.

Physical Demands:
Must be able to comprehend and carry out verbal and written instructions.
Job requires a substantial amount of sitting.
Use hands and fingers to press keys on a computer keyboard to enter or
retrieve information.
Use hands and fingers to press telephone key pad and lift telephone receiver.
Must be able to comprehend phone calls.
Must be able to lift 5 pounds.
