Quality Assurance Specialist (Ammunition Surveillance)

Salary Range: $75706 - $190779 Per Year

Job Summary: About the Position: This position serves as a subject matter expert reviewing, evaluating, and managing the ammunition operation programs worldwide involving munitions operations, processes, and procedures for compliance worldwide. **Access to Medical and Dental Care OCONUS locations is extremely limited. Please see Additional Information section below.** Geographical duty location will be for multiple duty locations worldwide.

Major Duties:

  • This position may be filled at the GS-12, GS-13, and/or GS-14 levels. The responsibilities at each grade level are listed below:
  • GS-12 Level includes:
  • Provide technical assistance with the handling, storage, and surveillance of Class V components.
  • Appraise workload for volume, testing, or inspecting storage preparatory to planning, developing, and managing the inspection and tests scheduling to determine unserviceable or serviceable assets.
  • Plan and coordinate surveillance inspection efforts to establish schedules, methods, procedures, materials, resources, and set-ups.
  • Develop technical reviews for construction plans, standard operating procedures, contracts and drawings of equipment, building and facilities used to process or store ammunition and explosives.
  • Supervise storage operations inspections and scheduling including site reviews of shipping and receiving operations and inspection of storage magazines.
  • GS-13 Level includes:
  • Review and evaluate the ammunition operations programs.
  • Perform worldwide Ammunition Operations reviews and audits.
  • Plan, direct, and execute Technical Assistance On-Site Visits.
  • Conduct studies and provide technical assistance.
  • Recommend policy and regulatory changes.
  • GS-14 Level includes:
  • Serve as supervisor and senior level program manager providing technical assistance and managing the ammunition operation programs worldwide for Class V Ammunition materiel regarding ammunition logistics and ammunition surveillance.
  • Evaluate the operational effectiveness of commands, activities, and installations ammunition operations programs.
  • Conduct worldwide ammunition operations reviews, studies, and audits.
  • Plan and assign work based on priorities, requirements of assignments and capabilities of employees.
  • Evaluate performance of employees and students.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). GS-13 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the following: Experience evaluating and analyzing the efficiency and effectiveness of ammunition operations programs worldwide; Experience applying in-depth technical and regulatory knowledge of ammunition munitions to provide advisories regarding conventional, guided missile, chemical ammunition, and related Class V material; Experience evaluating, analyzing, and resolving complex issues relating to accountability, storage, distribution, maintenance, demilitarization, transportation, testing, evaluation, and management of Class V material and related components, equipment, and packaging; and Experience preparing technical reports, correspondence, and briefings. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). GS-14 Level: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes the following: Experience evaluating, analyzing, and managing the efficiency and effectiveness of ammunition operations programs worldwide; Experience applying in-depth technical and regulatory knowledge of ammunition munitions to provide advisories regarding conventional, guided missile, chemical ammunition, and related Class V material; Experience evaluating, analyzing, and resolving complex issues or studies relating to accountability, storage, distribution, maintenance, demilitarization, transportation, testing, evaluation, and management of Class V material and related components, equipment, and packaging; and Experience directing performance management, workload distribution, or establishing priorities for multidisciplinary government personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. GS-14 Level: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
