SUPERVISORY IT CYBERSECURITY SPECIALIST (INFOSEC)

Salary Range: $126382 - $164296 Per Year

Major Duties:

  • You will provide oversight for command Information System Security Management Program to include appointing Information Systems Security Managers (ISSMs) and Information Systems Security Officers (ISSOs).
  • You will achieve and maintain accreditations for networks, sites, and systems in accordance with DON and DOD policy to ensure sites and systems are operating within an acceptable level of risk.
  • You will interpret Cybersecurity Vulnerability Alerts (IAVA), Cybersecurity Vulnerability Bulletins (IAVB), Technical Advisories, DOD Communication Tasking Orders and directives.
  • You will provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance and report compliance and progress toward compliance to appropriate stakeholders.
  • You will determine processes and metrics for measurement of overall cybersecurity readiness and communicate status to leadership and other stakeholders.
  • You will oversee and provide guidance on the implementation of cybersecurity requirements during all phases of program and system life cycle.
  • You will maintain awareness of government and industry cybersecurity trends and conduct analyses to determine the business case for adopting new cybersecurity technologies.

Qualifications: Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience must be IT related; the experience may be demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience and/or completion of specific, intensive training (for example, IT certification), as appropriate For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. The employing agency is responsible for identifying the specific level of proficiency required for each competency at each grade level based on the requirements of the position being filled. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. -AND- Specialized Experience: Positions at GS-7 (or equivalent) and above require one year of specialized experience at the next lower GS-grade (or equivalent). Specialized experience is experience that has equipped the applicant with the particular competencies/knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position and is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Such experience is typically gained in the IT field or through the performance of work where the primary concern is IT. The employing agency is responsible for defining the specialized experience based on the requirements of the position being filled. Experience overseeing and managing command cyber readiness programs to include visits to command sites, ensuring compliance with DON and DOD cybersecurity requirements, ensuring security improvement actions are evaluated, validated, and implemented, and tracking audit findings. Experience overseeing policy standards and implementation strategies to ensure procedures and guidelines comply with cybersecurity policies as well as interfacing and disseminating necessary cyber compliance information to appropriate external organizations. Experience identifying alternative cybersecurity strategies to address organizational security objectives and identifying cybersecurity program implications of new technologies or technology upgrades. Experience Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the cybersecurity safeguards to ensure they provide the intended level of protection and provide technical documents, incident reports, findings from computer examinations, summaries, and other situational awareness information to higher headquarters. Experience supervising and directing subordinate personnel through the establishment of performance guidelines, criteria, and priorities and collaborating with organizational managers to support organization objectives.
