Job Summary: You will serve as a PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIALIST in the Public Affairs Office of RECRUIT TRAINING COMMAND. The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Major Duties:
- You will speak before internal and external groups on command programs, policies, and objectives and achievements.
- You will evaluate speaking presentations for delivery, content and context accuracy, appropriateness, policy compliance, releasability, impact, and effectiveness.
- You will prepare organizational publications for internal and external audiences.
- You will build business relationships with external organizations to identify approaches for implementing public affairs projects.
- You will create electronic, print, social media, or audiovisual materials to disseminate information to the public.
Qualifications: For GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-05) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Assisting in developing strategies to disseminate complex information to civilian and military personnel using a variety of communications methods; 2) Assisting in developing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external staff agencies; 3) Assisting in writing articles, features, and printing of electronic media releases; and 4) Assisting in operating professional photography and videography equipment and in reviewing photographs, illustrations, and artwork for quality and composition; and 5) Assist in developing strategies for newsworthy stories. For GS-09: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector: 1) Utilizing professional photography and videography equipment; reviewing photographs, illustrations, and artwork for quality and composition; developing strategies to disseminate newsworthy stories for publication; 2) Conducting research, scriptwriting, and interviews when coordinating with audio/video staff in the production planning of TV and radio news articles; 3) Utilizing journalistic principles, composition, and editorial skills when submitting articles, features, and internal print and electronic media releases; and 4) Developing and maintaining an effective working relationship with a variety of staff agencies, internally and externally; and 5) Utilizing verbal communication and public speaking techniques when presenting information orally in front of an audience of news media.
