The Underwriting team at Wakam, is the cornerstone of risk assessment and decision-making thanks to the internal datas and industry insights to make informed decisions, ensuring Wakam provides comprehensive and competitive insurance solutions.

🎯 Your Mission

As the Pricing Lead, you will lead the pricing strategy for all Auto products across the UK and Europe (excluding France), driving standardization and technical excellence. You will serve as the actuarial expert for your team and stakeholders while ensuring portfolio profitability and innovation.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Technical Oversight

  • Manage and mentor a team of 4 actuaries responsible for technical pricing and portfolio performance.
  • Oversee rate-setting for Auto products (e.g., taxi, temporary insurance, delivery insurance), tailoring approaches for partner-specific needs.
  • Drive profitability monitoring by refining existing tools/methods, ensuring risk control and margin improvement.
  • Innovate in actuarial practices: leverage Open Data, advanced algorithms, and new pricing models to enhance partner value.

Strategic & Operational Execution

  • Lead Budget & Forecast processes for the Auto LOB.
  • Act as the key technical advisor to the Head of Auto LOB, partners, and internal teams.
  • Coordinate cross-functional collaboration with other Wakam teams (Risk, Data, Finance).

Core Deliverables

  • Price new opportunities (Phases 2 & 3) and existing portfolios.
  • Develop and maintain pricing tools and technical databases.
  • Lead partner review committees and profit-sharing calculations.
  • Conduct portfolio deep-dives and ad-hoc actuarial studies.

  • Strategic leadership: Ability to align team goals with Wakam’s vision.
  • Stakeholder management: Navigate complex partner/internal dynamics with tailored communication.
  • Problem-solving: Analyze risks, propose data-driven solutions, and make decisive calls.
  • Project management: Lead cross-functional initiatives with structured execution.
  • Communication: Simplify technical concepts for non-experts; lead high-impact presentations.

Technical Skills

  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, R/Python, and actuarial tools.
  • Fluent English (written/spoken).

  • Master’s degree in Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or Statistics.
  • Significant insurance industry experience, with 5+ years in managerial roles.
  • Expertise in European Auto pricing (multi-market experience preferred).
