Minimum Qualifications
Education: High School Diploma required, Associates or Bachelors degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
License/Certification: RHIT or RHIA preferred
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
- Five (5) years progressive ROI experience with working knowledge of all aspects of operations, knowledge of both state and federal regulations and patient privacy rights
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge of healthcare terminology and information privacy
- Strong prioritization, organization, verbal and written communication skills; critical thinking skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a professional team environment
Principal Accountabilities
- Coaches, develops, mentors, and consults with staff and management team to define and follow through with actions that support performance and development.
- Systematically identifies gaps and plans a course of action for process improvement and accomplishment of department objectives.
- Responsible for basic level staff performance management related to staffing, scheduling, new employee orientation and ongoing staff development and training.
- Interprets and communicates ROI policies and procedures to staff.
- Partners with management to address needs of staff members and promptly works to resolve gaps or issues.
- Identifies and recommends key quality checks to ensure compliance with the release of protected health information and identify documentation gaps.
- Communicates documentation gaps to appropriate staff and monitors medical record for resolution of errors.
- Provides appropriate advice, feedback, and development resources to improve effectiveness of individuals and teams.
- Research, analyzes, and assists in decisions regarding ROI processes.
- Co-facilitates and participates in meetings and/or events.
- Maintains and demonstrates a working knowledge of all state and federal Privacy laws, rules, and regulations in order to mitigate organizational risk.
- Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
- Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
