Salary Range: $33.54 - $39.18 Per Hour

Job Summary: This job opportunity is for an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, position description D0100000, within the 108TH MXS of the New Jersey Air National Guard. This vacancy announcement is a Title 32, Excepted Service position.

Major Duties:

  • As an AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, WG-8852-10, you will: Perform all phases of the repair and reclamation process for crashed or damaged aircraft utilizing lifting bags, cranes, hoists, slings, forklifts, and other heavy equipment. Serve on the flight control team and may coordinate team functions. Advises on and participates in the removal. rigging, and replacement of flight control surfaces, portable buffet and lavatory units. Accomplish organizational and intermediate level maintenance, which involves major repairs, TCTO's, and/or flight controls, landing gears. doors and canopies and associated equipment requiring structural or component maintenance beyond the capabilities of other activities. Perform intermediate level maintenance on aircraft wheel and tires and may also accomplish organizational maintenance such as wheel and tire and brake changes. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: General Experience: Must have the following experience(s): Removing and replacing aircraft parts, accessories, and components Making adjustments and settings according to established specifications Using hand tools and test equipment Specialized Experience: Must have 18 months of the following experience(s): Installing, adjusting, aligning, troubleshooting Functionally testing the various major and minor mechanical and pneudraulic systems on an aircraft during overhaul or modification Coordinating the work of other mechanics Scheduling maintenance to ensure completion of critical actions and optimum workflow Instructing lower graded mechanics, military and other personnel in the disassembly and re-assembly of crash damaged engines
