About the Team:
At Relativity Space, our Production Control Team plays a mission-critical role in enabling our vision of revolutionizing aerospace manufacturing. This team is responsible for planning and coordinating the entire product lifecycle—from initial components and engine builds to full-stage vehicle integration. What makes our team unique is the depth and extensiveness of our influence across the organization. We work closely with Production, Supply Chain, Program Management, Engineering, and Leadership to ensure that every part, assembly, and milestone is aligned with the bigger picture. Our team sits at the intersection of strategic execution and tactical problem solving, helping to translate complex technical goals into clear, achievable plans. We thrive in an environment where no two days are the same, and where adaptability, ownership, and curiosity are essential. If you’re energized by the idea of building the future of spaceflight, being a core driver of operational readiness, and collaborating with some of the most innovative teams in the industry—then this is the team for you.
About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and people-oriented Production Coordinator Lead to support and guide our Production Coordination Team, a critical function within the broader Production Control organization. This individual will play a key leadership role in driving execution discipline, operational efficiency, and team development in a high-complexity, fast-paced rocket manufacturing environment. In this role, you’ll be responsible for mentoring and leading a team of production coordinators, helping to level-load assignments, support daily priorities, and develop robust processes and training tools that scale with production. While approximately 50–75% of your time will be dedicated to leadership and team oversight, you’ll remain hands-on and tactical for the remaining 25%, ensuring you stay connected to real-time production needs. This is a high-impact opportunity for a motivated team lead who thrives in an environment where people development, operational rigor, and speed of execution matter equally.
- Lead and support a team of Production Coordinators responsible for hardware movement, work order execution, and daily production alignment across the factory floor.
- Support day-to-day level loading of coordinator assignments, ensuring coverage and alignment with production priorities, takt schedules, and build plans.
- Act as the first-line point of contact for escalations, guidance, and issue resolution across coordinator workflows.
- Collaborate with the Production Coordination Supervisor and cross-functional teams to streamline and standardize processes that improve efficiency, reduce friction, and enhance execution clarity.
- Develop and maintain training documents, SOPs, and onboarding materials to ensure consistency, capability, and scalability of coordinator responsibilities.
- Provide regular coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members, supporting both technical growth and leadership development.
- Execute on coordinator duties as needed (~25% of the time), maintaining hands-on familiarity with shop floor activities and execution pain points.
- Drive a team culture focused on accountability, proactive problem-solving, and continuous improvement.
About You:
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, production control, coordination, or operations, ideally in a high-mix, low-volume environment.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring a team (officially or unofficially) in a production or coordination setting.
- Strong working knowledge of work order management, hardware movement, and cross-functional execution in manufacturing environments.
- Ability to prioritize, delegate, and lead in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Proficiency in using ERP/MRP systems, production tracking tools, or MES platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice to haves but not required:
- Experience in aerospace, launch vehicle manufacturing, or propulsion systems.
- Familiarity with takt time scheduling, line balancing, or rate-based execution support.
- Exposure to lean manufacturing or continuous improvement tools.
- Ability to create and manage training materials, SOPs, and team documentation.
