Summary:The Regional Manager, Clinical Documentation Excellence, provides day-to-day work direction and support to the Clinical Documentation Excellence (CDE) team for multiple sites (Hospitals) and regions.

Responsibilities:Essential Functions
• Plans, organizes, and directs department activities for multiple sites (Hospitals).
• Provides daily oversight of the Clinical Documentation Specialists(CDS), helps develop a collaborative team, andmanagesmultiple priorities simultaneously for multiple sites (Hospitals).
• Reviews departmental performance and implements changes as necessary to improve performance.
• Keeps administration informed of department activities, needs, and problems.
• Assists with resolving issuesrelated to all aspects of the CDE program to ensure quality outcomes.
• Mentors and coachesthe assigned CDE team members.
• Performssecond level reviews as necessary.
• Reviewssecond level review audits performed and identifies educational opportunitiesfor the CDE team.
• Collaborateswith the multiple site Physician Liaisons, physicians, physician groups on clinical documentation excellence opportunities.
• Networks within multiple sites (Hospitals)to build provider, clinician, administrative and executive relationships.
• Collaborates with Coding management on areas of opportunity related to clinical documentation and DRG mismatches when needed.
• Participates in the training of new CDS, establishes goals and work priorities for CDE team, and provides ongoing feedback to the Corporate CDE Director/Manager.
• Reviews key CDE metrics(operational, quality, and performance) and assists with development of action plan to capture identified opportunities. Tracks program successes and ongoing opportunities for improvement.
• Representsthe CDE team at meetings as assigned in a professional manner.
• Serves as a subject matter expert and resource on interpretation and application of CDE methodology.
• Works closely with other CDE Regional Managersto ensure smooth flow of communication and consistency across all facilities.
• Participatesin administrative and management meetings and attends other meetings as necessary.
• Manages various human resourcesfunctionsincluding hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
• Ensures all employees under supervision complete all required training.
• Other duties as assigned to meet the goals both within the department and organization.
• Ensures monthly individual CDE meetings, meetings with key stakeholders, etc. are completed.
• Develops and maintainsrecords, reports, and files.
• Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
• Complies with all Orlando Health policies and procedures, service expectations and standards of behavior.
• Maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state, and local standards.

• CDI Subject Matter Expert (SME).

• Acts as a resource for team members with less experience.
• Leads teams or has accountability for ongoing activities or objectives.
• Maintains established work production standards for hospitals under supervision.
• Assumesthe responsibility for professional growth and development.
• Acts as a support for the director when director is unavailable.
• Performs monthly 1-1 productivity meetings with CDE team members
Education/Training
• BSN Required or years of experience in CDE will be considered.
Licensure/Certification
• As a Registered Nurse, maintains current State of Florida RN license or valid eNLC multistate RN license.
• Maintains current and at least one of the following:
• Certified Documentation Specialist (CCDS) by the Association of Clinical Documentation Integrity Specialists
• Clinical Documentation Improvement Professional (CDIP) by The American Health Information Management Association
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Academy of Professional Coders(AAPC)
• Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
Experience
• Five (5) years of acute care hospital nursing experience required.
• Two (2) years of acute care hospital CDE experience required.
• One (1) year of previous leadership experience, or verifiable management training isrequired.
• In-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in CDE required.
