Orangetheory Fitness – Camarillo Fitness is seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Director of Payroll and Total Rewards to lead the design, delivery, and administration of payroll operations and total rewards programs. This position ensures compliance, accuracy, and alignment with our business goals while enhancing the overall employee experience. The role is remote, but candidates must be based in Atlanta, GA for occasional in-person collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll Leadership
- Oversee biweekly, multi-state payroll processing for a large and growing employee population.
- Ensure payroll is compliant with federal, state, and local regulations across all jurisdictions.
- Manage payroll system integrations, audits, and process improvements.
- Collaborate with Finance and HR teams to align payroll cycles with accounting/reporting needs.
Total Rewards Strategy
- Design, implement, and manage competitive compensation, bonus, and incentive programs.
- Partner with People Leadership on compensation band reviews and adjustments.
- Lead annual total rewards cycle (merit increases, bonus planning, total rewards statements).
- Analyze market trends to ensure compensation and benefit offerings remain competitive.
Benefits Administration
- Oversee health, dental, vision, 401(k), wellness, and leave of absence programs.
- Partner with external brokers, carriers, and vendors for renewals and plan design.
- Ensure compliance with ACA, COBRA, ERISA, HIPAA, and other benefits-related regulations.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Build and lead a small team of payroll and benefits professionals.
- Act as a subject matter expert and internal consultant to leadership on all total rewards topics.
- Develop clear SOPs and employee-facing materials for pay and benefit programs.
- Support employee education and engagement around compensation and benefits.
Requirements
Requirements:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in payroll, compensation, and benefits.
- Experience with multi-state, high-volume payroll (fitness or hourly workforce preferred).
- Strong knowledge of Paylocity or similar payroll platforms.
- Deep understanding of U.S. payroll laws, benefit regulations, and compliance standards.
- Proven ability to build, implement, and scale systems and processes in a high-growth environment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Must reside in Atlanta, GA; remote work is supported, with occasional local meetings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Certified Compensation Professional (CCP).
- Experience supporting multi-location businesses or franchises.
- Background in the fitness, retail, or service industries.
