Summary:
The SIS Dean’s Advisory Council on Inclusive Excellence is appointed by the dean and charged to help the entire school move forward in building a community that welcomes and values differences and works to create a school where everyone has a sense of belonging. The Staff Co-Chair of the Advisory Council seeks to hire an SIS graduate student to serve as the Council’s Administrative Assistant. This position will report to the Co-Chair and will help the Council through scheduling, communications, data collection and web support. This position would especially appeal to a person who likes to be part of the development of something new; takes initiative; and shows confidence by contributing ideas that can better a project.
Responsibilities:
The Assistant will be responsible for collecting information and progress on inclusive excellence initiatives being led by different entities within SIS and will help to share that information across the school.
The Assistant will also write content for, and manage content on, the SIS IE website to showcase relevant projects, information, and initiatives, including the SIS Voices Series that highlights alumni from all different backgrounds and career pathways.
The Assistant will also have a major role supporting specific IE initiatives managed by the Co-Chair of the Advisory Council. This will require communications with SIS leaders, students, and external partners, all of whom share SIS’s commitment to creating a professional field of international affairs that includes all voices.
The Assistant will support the development of these initiatives through research, communications, survey distribution, reporting, and ongoing tracking of new projects, actions, and collaborations that result.
Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:
Part-Time.
20 hours per week.
This position will have a hybrid schedule, working both remotely and on campus.

Salary Range:
$18.50 per hour.
Required Education and Experience:
Current SIS Graduate Student.
Excellent organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills (phone, email, in-person).
Strong writing skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Ability to work in multicultural environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Demonstrated attention to detail.
A strong candidate will have contributed to initiatives that relate to working across difference and creating a sense of belonging for everyone in previous schools, workplaces, or here at AU, and will demonstrate a solid interest in the deepening of such initiatives and supporting their implementation.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Experience communicating with people at a variety of levels of an organization.
Experience writing for the web.
Experience managing content on websites.
Knowledge of survey tools and experience with data collection and analysis.
Event planning experience.
