Job Description

As the Senior Software Engineer, you will take charge of the entire release process for our iOS and Android apps. You’ll collaborate with engineering, QA, product, and marketing teams to ensure smooth, timely, and high-quality app launches. Your day-to-day will involve planning, scheduling, and refining the mobile release lifecycle, while working closely with feature teams to deliver critical updates through full releases and OTAs. You’ll be part of a passionate, cross-functional team focused on building intuitive, high-performing mobile experiences that keep users engaged and delighted.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. The specific work arrangements vary by role and team. The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

What you’ll do

  • Manage the end-to-end mobile app release process and own the release calendar.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to define release scope, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Oversee build submissions, version control, and deployments via App Store Connect and Google Play Console.
  • Ensure thorough pre-release testing, compliance with platform policies, and clear documentation.
  • Drive continuous improvements in release automation, communication, and post-release reviews.

Basic qualifications

  • 5 years of experience in release management, mobile app deployment, or related roles
  • 5 years of hands-on experience with App Store Connect, Google Play Console, and mobile CI/CD workflows
  • 2 years of hands-on experience with OTA update systems (e.g., Microsoft CodePush, Expo OTA, etc.)
  • 2 years of experience working with Git, release branches, version control, and automated build tools

Preferred qualifications

  • 3 years of experience with build and deployment tools like Fastlane, Jenkins, etc.
  • Technical background in mobile development (React Native, Swift, Kotlin)
  • Familiarity with feature flag management and staged rollouts
  • Understanding of mobile analytics, performance monitoring, and crash reporting (e.g., Dynatrace, Sentry)
