JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Accounts Payable Accountant I is accountable for analysis and execution of various day to day tasks and special projects related to accounts payable, electronic invoicing, vendor management, inventory valuation, and gross profit. Additional responsibilities include period end activities, which includes preparing journal entries, analyzing and providing explanations on various balance sheet and income statement accounts, preparing reconciliations in a timely manner, and preparing and updating forecasts for respective areas of responsibility.
This role requires 4 days in office for up to 6 months to learn the role and then will be able to shift to 3 days a week in office and 2 days remote. This role is located in St Louis, Missouri.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead AP Debit review and collection process for vendors in a credit balance.
Assist with the electronic invoicing program with Transcepta.
Assist with inventory valuation and gross profit review of DSD receipt and invoicing.
Lead the payment review process of the Vendor Master file for vendor additions and updates.
Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations for areas of responsibility.
Record, review, and provide forecast updates for areas of responsibility.
Analyze and provide explanations for various income statement line items on a period/quarterly basis and complete various closing responsibilities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE
Technology proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Access.
Working knowledge of routine and non-routine accounting processes and the requirements of recording transactions in accordance with US GAAP in a matter that creates/maintains an effective internal control environment.
Working knowledge of Google Suite - Gmail, Sheets, Docs, and Slides.
Basic knowledge of web-based software applications - PeopleSoft or other accounting software.

Independent self-starter with excellent analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
Professional and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates ability to develop both internal and external partnerships.
Ability to prioritize a heavy workload and meet deadlines. Exhibits ownership of areas of responsibility.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree required
Minimum Years of Experience: Less than 1 year

Remote work policy requires 4 days in office initially and then once trained or after 6 months, 3 days a week with Tuesday/Wednesday required in-office days.
