We like to have fun.The Aerodynamics Team is responsible for design and development of the following components: Side extenders, roof fairings, drive wheel fairings, wheel covers, turning vanes, sun visors and short range radar covers for both diesel and battery electric trucks. We take pride in designing our parts in-house and use solid engineering principles to create products that look great, provide best in class fuel economy and stand up to whatever our customers throw at them.

What You Drive at DTNA
- Design and develop aerodynamic components that are efficient, safe, reliable, serviceable and competitive.
- Provide creative, technically-feasible designs for assigned area that satisfy customer needs while adhering to Engineering standards and strategic directions.
- Use NX and other design tools to create and maintain 3D part designs, detailed 2D part/assembly drawings, GD&T, packaging studies, and installation diagrams. - Interface with Product Design to develop styled surfaces.
- Lead designers, and suppliers in the design and development of vehicle components and systems.
- Mentor less experienced engineers on the team. Helping them to learn and grow into competent design engineers.
- Identify proper materials, tolerances, finishes, fasteners, and production methods for new designs.
- Interface and coordinate with Suppliers, Purchasing, Materials, Manufacturing, Quality, Warranty, Marketing, and other Engineering personnel in the product development and testing phases.
- Interface with Compliance & Regulatory Affairs to ensure that designs meet domestic and export government regulations, restrictions and codes.
- Interface with Engineering Analysis to determine the most effective and economic design and materials to be used in designs.
- Analyze and provide creative, technically-feasible solutions to problems encountered in validation and production and promptly resolve plant build issues.
- Develop, release, and maintain accurate Engineering documentation.
- Improve competitive market position by keeping abreast of state of the art developments in the trucking industry and applying the new knowledge to designs.
- Prioritize assignments consistent with business goals and successfully implement projects on time and within budget.
- Proactively inform management of project issues, delays and risks.
- Generate and implement ideas that continuously improve work environment, systems, tools, processes as well as product cost (CCI) and quality.
- Other activities as necessary and/or assigned.
- Works independently within guidelines and policies to solve problems of moderate complexity
- Provides informal guidance to new team members
- May lead projects or processes as required
Knowledge You Should Bring
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering ore related field and prefer 5+ years of related experience or 8+ years experience in lieu of degree
- Demonstrated effective communication skills
- Systematic and proven problem solving approach
- Demonstrated leadership with internal or external stake holders
- Requires understanding of key business drivers
Exceptional Candidates Might Have
- Masters in Engineering or related field a plus
- Experience in designing and/or tooling of injection molded, SMC, Thermoformed, and stamped components is preferred
