Position Summary: We care about the individuals and families living within our community and it is our priority to ensure access to services as soon as possible. The person in this internship role operates as a Behavioral Health Clinical Intern within our CCBHC. As part of our team, this person has opportunity to gain clinical experience with individuals and families across the lifespan. Interns also assist CCHBC staff with directing, coordinating, and managing care and services, under the direct supervision of a licensed clinician.
Expectations & Responsibilities:
- Demonstrating commitment to learning the person-centered and family-centered treatment planning process
- Under the direct supervision of a licensed clinician, interns have opportunities to observe, shadow, and/or directly facilitate the following:
- Individual, family, couples, and/or group counseling
- Providing counseling services using evidence-based clinical practices and interventions, that are consistent with the person’s values, preferences, and individualized needs
- Initial Evaluations
- Assessing appropriate level of care
- Obtaining necessary consents and release of information and participating in care coordination and treatment planning activities
- Completing internal and/or external referrals to link people with the appropriate services and resources
- Interns are responsible for the following:
- Tracking and monitoring supervision hours and direct client contact hours
- Arriving on-time
- Participating in weekly supervision with approved on-site supervisor, group supervisions, and team meetings
- Completing all required documentation within designated timeframes, including data collection and entry
- Participating in all required program and agency trainings
- Ensuring services are culturally and linguistically appropriate, adhering to CLAS standards
- Adhering to all agency and CCBHC policies and procedures, including HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and all state and federal regulations
Qualifications:
- Participating in an accredited college or university, majoring in human services, social work, mental health counseling, or public and social services academic program
- Incorporating authenticity, empathy, and humanity into daily practice
- Providing care that is respectful, empowering, and responsive to the person receiving services
- Demonstrating communication and conversational skills that inspire trust and consistency
Requirements:
- Current driver’s license, reliable transportation, registration and auto insurance
- Ability to communicate effectively
- This position may require office and community visits which may involve use of stairs, elevators, walkways, etc.
- Ability to lift up to 20lbs
- Must be able to work remotely and in person adhering to PHI requirements
