This student position is a remote position with flexible hours and days. The University of Virginia's Center for Public Safety and Justice launched late last year with the mission to challenge and shape future public safety leaders and key stakeholders to improve public service and strengthen community wellbeing in a diverse and rapidly changing world. We aim to address complex public safety challenges through education, collaboration, research and innovation, strengthening public service and communities.

Not often are days with the Center the same and we've got a lot to do. As such, the student hired will have the opportunity to be involved in different aspects of the Center or, if the student has a specific area of interest, find a short-term or long-term project in that area. Some duties may include:

  • Research and writing assignments on emerging public safety issues, like artificial intelligence or drones
  • Draft social media posts or informational pieces
  • Assist in organizing Center events and thought leadership forums
  • Other duties as they may arise

More information about the Center can be found here: https://www.scps.virginia.edu/center-public-safety-and-justice
