This includes Safety Analysis, Licensing, Emergency Preparedness, Environmental Protection, Decommissioning, Waste Management, and cutting-edge Systems Engineering and Robotics.Position OverviewThe Operations Specialist plays a pivotal role in the Calian Nuclear division by ensuring the team is well positioned to achieve its annual business plan and long-term strategic plan. Positioned directly under the VP, Nuclear, this position ensures business activity is running smoothly by supporting day to day operations, departmental reporting, team culture initiatives, and strategic programming.This position will have the opportunity to work side-by-side with the Nuclear Management Team to develop and deliver resources and programs. The Operations Specialist will strive to bridge any disconnect between Nuclear’s strategic business objectives and the team’s current state.Responsibilities - Collecting and analyzing operational data to identify trends, measure performance, and provide actional insight. Presenting these findings to senior management to support the decision-making process.
- Partner with multiple stakeholders across the organization, such as Human Resources Business Partners (HRBPs), finance, marketing, and contract administrators, to support the execution of Nuclear specific initiatives and objectives
- Track, analyze, and prepare utilization and financial reports for the management team detailing observations and recommendations. Ultimately, communicating the results and recommendations to the Nuclear Management Team
- Support the development and implementation of strategic programs to improve employee experience and team culture, while also positively impacting engagement and retention
- Lead Nuclear communication efforts related to program rollout and organizational updates ensuring clarity and alignment amongst the department
- Support the onboarding process for new employees to ensure a seamless employee experience and fast track the training process
- Support the VP, Nuclear in the full life cycle of Nuclear specific mergers and acquisitions
- Identify key areas for improvement, by diagnosing bottlenecks and developing actionable plans to ensure Calian Nuclear is able to achieve growth objectives
Qualifications - A post-secondary degree in Business or another relevant discipline
- 2-4 years of experience in a similar capacity within an operational environment
- Experience within the Nuclear industry will be considered an asset
- Experience in identifying and creating new operational efficiencies to streamline and improve processes and save on costs and resources
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with experience communicating effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels within the organization
- Must be numbers and data driven with a proven history of running utilization reports, assisting with financial reporting and budgeting
- Experience with and working knowledge of SAP will be considered a strong asset
